Alright, I will break the video posting with an actual update. I have been enjoying the fall riding with friends because the high desert trails always seem to be at their prime this time of year. I made the annual fall pilgrimage to Moab and had a blast camping and riding. I always feel lucky to survive the Whole Enchilada in one piece! I also have been riding in Fruita and Grand Junction, I highly recommend the lunch loops in GJ if you have never ridden there.
This was parked at the lunch loops and appears to be the ultimate bike shuttle vehicle! I rode part of the new Sidewinder trail that runs between Montrose and Delta and would give it the "adventure ride" rating. The trail is not fast and flowy on a bike and is fairly rough (think shark fins!) so the riding is slow as it took about 4 hours to go out and back about 8 miles at a decent pace. There are a few unique and fun sections(like the pic above) and I think the trail will break in over time so maybe just give it some time or be prepared for an adventure ride!
I finally gave into the snow today and dusted off the rock skis for a little kick and glide at Lily Lake above Crested Butte. The CB Nordic Center set track with their snow cat a few days ago to make for some great touring, it is still a little thin in spots so I would recommend rock skis until we get another snow. Crested Butte is really lucky to have consistent early season nordic skiing so if you live in CO and are looking for a good place to come ski in November I recommend it (and it is even free!).
Now the decision is...to ride the bike this weekend or go skiing? What are you doing?
